Zinedine Zidane Inching Closer To Bayern Munich Appointment

Zinedine Zidane inching closer to Bayern Munich appointment

Real Madrid legend could soon take over managerial role at Champions League semifinalists

Bayern Munich is reportedly closing in on the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as its new head coach.

The news comes after reports in the Spanish media suggested that Zidane, who has been out of management since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, is one step away from taking over at the Allianz Arena.

Zidane, 51, has a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach. He won the Champions League as a player with Real Madrid in 2002, and then went on to manage the club to three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018.

Bayern Munich is currently managed by Julian Nagelsmann, who has been in charge since 2021. However, the German club has endured a disappointing season so far, and is currently fourth in the Bundesliga, six points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

If Zidane does take over at Bayern Munich, he will be tasked with restoring the club to its former glory. The Bavarians have won the Bundesliga for the past 10 seasons, but they have not won the Champions League since 2013.

Zidane is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time. He was capped 108 times by France, and scored 31 goals for his country.

Zidane began his managerial career at Real Madrid Castilla, the club's reserve team, in 2014. He was promoted to the first team in 2016, and went on to win three Champions League titles, one La Liga title, two UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups.

Zidane resigned from Real Madrid in 2018, but returned to the club in 2019. He won another La Liga title in 2020, but left the club again in 2021 after failing to win any trophies in his second spell.

Zidane has been linked with a number of jobs since leaving Real Madrid, including Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. However, he has yet to take on a new role, and it now appears that Bayern Munich is the frontrunner to secure his services.

The appointment of Zidane would be a major coup for Bayern Munich. He is one of the most successful managers in the world, and his arrival would send a strong message that the club is determined to regain its status as one of the top teams in Europe.
